Sr. Quality Engineer required for Leading Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing Firm

An industry leader in Aerospace and Defense manufacturing is rapidly growing in the US and is looking for a Sr. Quality Engineer to join and enhance the Quality team. The engineer will be tasked with conducting internal audits, corrective action, and working with cross functional teams and a variety of projects. Additionally, they will be a large part in the verification of quality standards in coordination with suppliers and lead root cause analysis initiatives. Reporting directly to the Sr. Quality Manager, the Sr. QE will leverage their mechanical engineering background to support audits and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
The Sr. Quality Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
- Conducting internal audits
- Design and conduct cost saving initiatives
- Product reliability studies
- Implementing LEAN and Six Sigma initiatives
- Manage major program manufacturing process qualification
- Ensuring AS9100 and ISO9001 compliance
- Provide leadership on problem solving teams to drive root cause analyses and corrective/preventive action plans
- Implement root cause analysis initiatives with cost-saving focus
- Evaluate new supplier materials
- Communicate effectively with other team members and cross-functionally throughout the manufacturing site
- Use of lean and six sigma tools to drive variation reduction
The ideal candidate will have the following skillset:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering preferred
- 2+ years experience working in an aerospace and defense manufacturing facility in the quality space
- Previous internal auditing experience
- Ability to create PP presentations that can accurately display data
- Strong written and oral communication abilities
- Knowledge of various quality systems is a plus
- Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing processes
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt a plus
