Job Overview:
The Maintenance Supervisor is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of machinery and equipment in our manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role involves leading a team of maintenance technicians to conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs, thereby minimizing downtime and upholding product quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, offering guidance, training, and support to maximize performance and productivity.
- Plan and prioritize maintenance tasks, including preventive maintenance schedules, work orders, and equipment inspections, to reduce production interruptions and downtime.
- Coordinate with production and other departments to schedule maintenance activities, ensuring minimal impact on production schedules.
- Regularly inspect machinery, equipment, and facilities to identify issues, defects, or potential hazards, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform repairs or coordinate with external vendors to restore functionality promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and inventory of spare parts and supplies.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to comply with company policies, OSHA regulations, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and performance.
- Monitor and control maintenance expenses within budgetary limits by optimizing resources and minimizing waste.
- Provide regular reports to the Maintenance Manager on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and adherence to maintenance schedules and KPIs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in maintenance operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs, root cause analysis, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
- Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse workforce.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards.
- Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond to maintenance emergencies outside of regular business hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or technical certification in mechanical, electrical, or a related field.
- Certification in maintenance management or a related field (e.g., Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) is a plus.
