Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to join our growing environmental team in a remote capacity. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in environmental compliance, with a strong focus on Title V Air Permitting and regulatory requirements within the manufacturing industry. This role requires an individual who is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, remote environment.
As a Senior Environmental Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, focusing on air quality management, air permitting, and reporting. You will collaborate with internal teams to ensure that environmental standards are met and exceed expectations, all while ensuring that the company remains in compliance with Title V air permit requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Title V Air Permitting:
- Lead the preparation, submission, and management of Title V Air Permits for the company's manufacturing facilities.
- Ensure compliance with Title V and other applicable air quality regulations (NSPS, NESHAP, etc.).
- Develop and submit permit renewals, modifications, and amendments in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Provide technical support and guidance regarding air quality and permitting requirements to internal teams.
- Develop and maintain air emission inventories and ensure proper reporting in accordance with regulatory requirements (e.g., EPA's EMIS, TRI, and Toxics Release Inventory).
Environmental Compliance and Reporting:
- Monitor and ensure ongoing compliance with federal and state air quality regulations.
- Prepare, review, and submit environmental reports to regulatory agencies (e.g., EPA, local air districts, state agencies) in a timely manner.
- Conduct environmental audits and assessments for air quality and other environmental programs, identifying potential non-compliance issues and implementing corrective actions.
Regulatory Strategy and Advocacy:
- Stay current with environmental regulations, policy changes, and emerging trends, particularly in the areas of air quality management and Title V permitting.
- Assist with strategy development for upcoming regulatory changes that impact Title V permits or air quality compliance.
- Provide technical advice to the company regarding environmental regulations and potential impacts on operations.
Environmental Training and Communication:
- Develop and deliver training programs for internal stakeholders on air quality regulations, compliance obligations, and reporting requirements.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (Operations, EHS, Legal, etc.) to ensure air quality compliance is integrated into operational processes and procedures.
Permit Tracking and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of environmental permits, compliance documentation, and regulatory correspondence.
- Manage air quality-related data collection, emissions calculations, and compliance tracking systems.
Project Management:
- Lead or participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving environmental performance, including pollution reduction initiatives, emission controls, and operational improvements.
- Provide leadership for air-related environmental projects and initiatives to ensure they meet regulatory and corporate sustainability goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in environmental compliance within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Title V Air Permitting is required.
- Strong understanding of EPA regulations, NSPS, NESHAP, MACT, and other air quality-related regulations.
- Experience in environmental auditing, emissions inventory management, and environmental reporting (e.g., TRI, EMIS, SARA 313).
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations as they pertain to air quality and environmental compliance.
- Experience working with state/local environmental agencies and understanding of air permitting processes at the state and federal level.
- Familiarity with environmental management systems (EMS) and ISO 14001 is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex regulatory documents and apply them to operational practices.
- Ability to work remotely and collaborate effectively with team members across different locations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or LEED Certification.
- Familiarity with Air Quality Modeling and emission factors.
- Experience in other environmental compliance areas (water, waste, sustainability) is a plus.
- Project management experience, particularly in environmental compliance or sustainability projects.
