OVERVIEW The Category Manager is responsible for developing and implementing supply chain strategies, leveraging sourcing and procurement expertise, and fostering supplier relationships to meet our organization's needs. This role involves managing complex indirect categories and leading critical negotiations.
JOB DUTIES
- Oversee complex and challenging categories, including services, and gain in-depth knowledge to create sourcing strategies that align with market trends, business goals, the entire supply chain, and total cost of ownership.
- Mentor other team members in Sourcing & Procurement while contributing to the overall supply chain management strategy.
- Influence purchasing behavior by ensuring suppliers meet performance expectations, data requirements, and procurement strategies. Develop strategies to establish valuable supplier partnerships.
- Work with stakeholders to identify and pursue opportunities for product and service improvements, including standardization and process efficiency.
- Lead cross-functional sourcing initiatives, such as RFI, RFQ, and RFP, ensuring alignment with business objectives and effective communication across the organization.
- Negotiate agreements with key suppliers, considering all aspects of a successful partnership, including cost, supply terms, service, and quality.
- Analyze and calculate costs for products/services and develop strategies for cost reduction.
- Assist in developing and implementing supplier onboarding processes
- Manage supplier performance, focusing on total value, including quality, service responsiveness, process efficiency, and cost. Gather feedback on supplier performance from team members.
- Identify and escalate critical external relationships that could impact the supply chain, planning, and decision-making.
- Handle other special projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field (Required).
- 6+ years of experience in sourcing and procurement.
- A collaborative team player with a passion for people and hospitality.
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills, leadership, and communication abilities.
- Continuous improvement mindset with experience in developing and deploying sourcing and procurement processes and systems.
- Advanced collaboration and negotiation skills
